2025 Pre-Season Wide Receiver Position Rankings

WIDE RECEIVERS

1. Grant Roberts šŸ‚- Best overall WR in the ICFL when he’s healthy. His 540 yards last year were good for 1st. He also hauled in 6 tuddies. It’ll be interesting to see the new Dors pass game with a new QB (we all know Jared is secretly going to play). They were extremely pass heavy last year. Maybe not quite so much this year, but Grant is a safety net that can make bad QB play look great on a stat sheet. He can do it all. Height, hops, hands, routes, etc. Great dude too. He’s the man.Ā

2. James Hull šŸŗ- The head scratching, how does he do it guy. He snatches everything. Prob the best overall hands in the league, and he’s faster than he looks. He’s a big boy, but he’s still always open. The 1 guy in the ICFL where everyone knows where it’s going, Colt takes the snap and eyes go right to him, stares at him the entire route, still slings it into fouble coverage, and Hull rewards him for it, and uses his Power Forward size to pluck the rebound. It’s kinda baffling. But can’t hate on it. He is coming off a wrist surgery, and won’t have Colon to take some pressure away from him this year. But I’ll bet he still finds his way to the top of the stat sheet. 356 yards, and a league best, 8 TDs last year.Ā

3. Brig Johnson šŸ… - Brig is a baller. Theres a significant drop off from the Top 2 though. Brig has the size and athleticism, but struggles with drops at times. I think he’s actually going to have a really good season with Emmitt Johnson. His only holdback will be other mouths to feed. Which really could help take away coverage as much as it haunts him. But he will most likely be their #1. Brig was good for 280 and 4 last year.

4. Milo Betty šŸ…- Back 2 Back Sabers in the Top 5… I keep warning you guys these guys are gonna be good. Milo is the ultimate slot guy. He’s small, but quick and elusive. He’s experienced enough to know where the holes in the zones are, and his hands are very reliable. Milo had 21 catches, 228 yards, but just 2 scores a year ago. I expect those numbers to go up a bit.Ā

5. Gabe Hughes šŸ‚- This one is wild. Gabe is ultra talented, and never gets used. He was the Dors 10th leading pass catcher… WHAT?!?! 7 catches, 133 yards, 2 TDs. (Less than 1 catch, and less than 17 yards per game). Pretty much the same the year before. Somehow, they keep convincing him he’s going to be a huge part of the offense next season. šŸ™„ Even though they added more WR’s and lost the QB this offseason. I know, because we recruited him hard this offseason. Tried to remind him that he had 19 catches, 274 yards, and 6 TDs playing with Isaac (behind Zach & Taylor) on BT. Still by far his best year. Some call it sales, I call it deceit. But he bought it, again, so we will see!Ā

6. Tone Epps šŸ‚- I admit I was wrong about him last year. I thought he was just ok on the Duckz. Last year he broke out for 21 catches, 276 yards, and 4 TD. He was clearly the guy when Grant wasn’t available, and was really impressive on film. He’s legit, I won’t underrate him again. It’s all going to depend who ends up under center this year. Taco? Blaze? Kadun? (We all know it’s going to be Jared).Ā

7. Tyson Summers šŸ”±- Breakout candidate for most improved player. He’s spent the last 2 years running around wide open with nobody to get him the ball… (5 catches for 125 yards). That’s a crime for how good he can be. Well, now he has someone to get him the ball. And adding new big WR’s allows him to move into the slot where he belongs. I fully expect Tyson to lead the ICFL in catches this year. Yes Blake, he’s much much better than you.Ā

8. Kapena Ho šŸ‚- Another Matador. The most experienced, and Swiss Army knife. He’s so good that being here, still Top 10, is an insult. His talent is higher, he’s just cool with letting other dudes eat, and doesn’t have to be the guy. But on 3rd down and sticks, guess who gets the target. Pena is one of the more decorated guys on this list. (203 & 3)

9. Emilio Polanco ā›ļø- The most dangerous and elusive player listed to this point. Not quite as consistent as some others, but this guy is a straight weapon. Hasn’t been in the league for a while, so I was happy to see his name pop up on their roster. There will be a few highlights this year by him that make you go ā€œdayummmnnn.ā€ Ultra athletic.Ā

10. Scott Wells šŸ”±- My other candidate for most improved. Scott went from a backup last year who had a hard time grasping the offense (only 4 catches for 58 yards), to our #1 WR. Took zero time off this offseason, dedicated himself to his craft, and is now a leader on the offense, answering questions for everyone else. Scott has his injury battles, we keep him on a pitch count, thats why he’s down here. But IF he can keep himself healthy, he will be an All-Star. Mark my words. So excited about him.Ā

11. Taylor Ross šŸ‚- Once the face of youth in the ICFL, now the experienced vet. He will be an ICFL Hall of Famer for sure, but he’s been on a downward trajectory for a couple years now. Went there to get more touches, and saw significantly less. Last year he was the Dors 6th top pass catcher at 9 rec. 197 yards and 3 TD. I still think he’s more talented than some others with higher production. He’s struggled with drops the last couple years, but man he can be such a playmaker. Maybe the toughest to tackle of guys listed so far. Miss ya old friend.Ā

12. Robert Jackio šŸ…- Another mouth (literally & figuratively) to feed in the Sabers offense. Jack is a really good athlete. Is he willing to run around out there as the Sabers 3rd or 4th option, while also playing defense? Ehhh, maybe. If they’re winning. No doubt he makes the Sabers a better football team on both sides. One of the catalysts that make me think the Sabers will be the leagues most improved teams. One more guy you gotta account for, leaving Brig and Betty more open.Ā

13. Eric Bassett šŸ”±- Commissioner Bassett finally gets to move out of TE back to where he belongs in the slot. Such a selfless teammate that he was willing to spend the last few years blocking, and though undersized, was tough enough to do it. Now with Isaac back, and a more pass heavy approach, I expect his numbers to go way up from 6 catches for 52 yards. Waiting on a knee to cooperate, but things are looking on the up n up. Prob my favorite player in the league. Will you be my Valentine? šŸ˜

14. Chance Hudson šŸ…- Really good athlete, plays both ways like Jackio, and also like Jackio has a strong personality and wants to be fed. Brig and Milo are the tops. So hopefully, it’s a role he’s willing to accept as a package guy. ā€œBoth ways/tops/package guyā€ all in the same paragraph. Sorry, that wasn’t intentional. I really like him as a football guy, not specifically as a WR. He’s a tough fkn dude, that is fun as hell to watch on ST.Ā

15. Jameke Barber āœˆļø- Tired of being the Aztecs step child (10 catches, 93 yds, 3 TD). Heads over to the Warhawks to be the star of the passing game. A huge drop off at QB, but at least he will now be the primary target. Jameke has made some huge clutch catches in his career, and I’m excited to watch him take center stage this year. Whether he moves up or down will depend entirely on play calling and QB play.

16. Hayden Thacker ā›ļø- Was always ole reliable for AJ Hunter. They all retired together, they all came back together. Thack Attack might not run like he used to, but he produces and has solid hands. I expect him to be the safety valve in the Digger offense.

17. Angelo Zavala šŸ‚- Yet another Dors WR… Was a bit of a pleasant surprise for them last season. I remember his as a drop machine on the Duckz. But for the Dors he put up 151 yards and 3 TD. I think some others on that team are more talented than him, but he outproduces them. Facts are facts, so what do I know… He’s doing it while I’m talking about guys who don’t. Maybe they’ll let the Dors start 2 QBs and throw 2 footballs every play? Ā

18. Roy Hull šŸŗ- Kinda been saving this one. This guy legit could be Rookie of the Year. He’s James Hull’s younger brother, and some say even better. Back when I thought Hull was retiring, I had this guy way up there as the Tecs #1 target. But with him back, let’s see baby bro earn his stripes. He was at Eagle High last year, right? Love to see James pass the crown at the end of the year. šŸ‘‘Ā

19. Efrain Lopez šŸ”±- Lightning in a bottle. Our new quick weapon. Think Milo in his prime. Probably a lil’ faster. He just moved here from Texas. His brother plays RB for us. He’s so elusive he has me creating plays just to get him the rock. I love the aspect he brings to our system. We’ve been missing this speed at WR for a lil’ bit.Ā

20. Gabe Briggs 🐺- The Alphas said this was the new guy they really wanted to highlight. They say he’s emerged as the #1 WR. They say he’s clutch as hell and grinds is out with Blancas (the leagues #1 corner) every week, and wins his fair share. WR was the Alphas biggest hole last year, so this is a huge pickup for them.Ā

20B. Cris Quintero šŸ”±- I was going back n’ forth in my head about whether or not to include him. I decided at the last second I might as well. Some had been very skeptical about the reality of him playing this season, including myself. Odds are higher yes than no, even if it is just for 4 games + playoffs. If you know who he is, you know he’s a Top 3 talent. Won’t lead the league due to availability. But the ones he does play in… you absolutely have to gameplan around him or he will take the top off. He says he can’t wait to play against his old team Week 1!

WR: 21-39. Finally a fun position with players who actually matter. Offensive skills! 😘 most teams start 3, so it’s gonna be a long fkn list… In fact, once I wrote it all out, I’m going (my phone keeps changing ā€œgoingā€ to ā€œhoeingā€ 🤨) to break it into 2 diff lists:

21. Jojo Seward šŸŖ„- A hige pickup for the Griffins. We actually tried to recruit this new player as well, but he šŸ‘» me. šŸ˜‚ Anyway, I think he’s going to be really good. Griffins, find a way to get him the rock or you’ll see him on an upper team next season. You don’t wanna be a farm club.Ā

22. Porter Grow šŸŗ- What am I thinking with him way down here? He should prob be higher. He’s better than some above him. I just think he’s going to be competing for touches. 3rd or 4th WR on a team that loves to run the ball, and throw to RBs. Maybe he fills the ā€œMACā€ role, but not as well. With Mac, Jameke, and Drennon gone, there’s more opportunity. He’s a good small player, but he talks much bigger. 4 rec, 81 yds, 2 TD.Ā

23. Allen Armendariz šŸ”±- Transfer from the Savage. He’s going to start for us this year. Maybe not the most elusive, but big, very reliable hands, good routes, and very smart. 4 rec. 46 yds in spot duty. Focused at DE for Savage.Ā

24. Kai Kovic šŸŗ- Man, why? Why are you down here Kovic? I know you don’t agree with it. And you pass the eye test. But you only put up 176 yds and 1 TD. And that’s one if your better seasons. You’re too talented for those numbers. But they’re consistent over several years, and they speak for themselves. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

25. Teddy Leyba šŸ‚- The Dors starting kicker, maybe the best in the league. That’s 90% of his value. He’s a good lil’ reciever, they just don’t need him yo do it. 11 catches for 115 yds. 7 Matador pass catchers had more than him.Ā

26. Logan Miller šŸŖ„- Another good new pick up for Griffins. They say he might even be better than Jojo. Either way, they might be their best 2 players, and the best duo of new WR’s on any team!

27. Brandon Park šŸ‚- The Dors claim they got the Savage ā€œBest Playerā€ and maybe so. 156 yards and 2 scores as their Top Target. But now you have like 5-6 guys ahead of you on the depth chart. I have no doubt he’s talented. He’s just buried on the depth chart.Ā

28. Nico Jamie šŸ”±- Another one of those new Mt. View Champ winning pedigree dudes BT grabbed this year. Nico is solid, has obviously played in a good system coming up. He’s only down here because he joined a lil’ late, and might play more defense. We haven’t decided yet. But when he’s in at WR, he’s a Top 20 talent.Ā

29. Bobby Bonds 🐺- Bobby is a deep threat, that’s really all he did for the DBacks the last couple years. Now he joins a better team with a better QB. Sky is the cieling for him. Let’s see how it pans out. Prob with a lotta 9 balls. No team had more drops last year than Alphas.

30. RJ Williams šŸ…- ā€œJeff really hates meā€¦ā€ Nah man, your coaches do. I think you’re a Top 20 talent. But you consistently put up under 150 yards and a score in every season… in 8 games… like bro, you gotta break tackles. Last year you led the Savage in receptions at least (at 11). Now you’ll be behind 4 other Sabers WR options. I don’t see this being the break out year you think it will be.Ā

31. Blake Wingert šŸŖ„- Speedy Gonzalez puts up huge numbers against bottom teams, and 0 stats against upper teams. Seriously, I think he has 1 total catch for 1 total yard against BT in 3 years. But then goes and puts up 3 scores on the Guardians and that gets him a spot on the ā€œOlympic All-America Team.ā€ Dude… think about it. If it was really an All USA team, don’t you think they might want some D1 guys? Whatev. Blake is only going to play in 2 games this year. As long as one of them is a bottom team, he will score twice.Ā

32. Cayden Hill āœˆļø- He’s new. They referred to him as ā€œdynamic.ā€ I don’t know much about him. But regardless of his talent, I know who’s throwing to him, and how rarely they’re going to throw this year… yikes.Ā

33. Zach Lowen šŸŗ- Already posted in the LB group cuz he’s gonna do both. I’ll remind you how Joe just gushed about this guy… ā€œathletic/motivated/coachableā€ cool man.šŸ‘šŸ»Ā

34. Ethan Johnson šŸ…- I assumed this guy was going to be a real difference maker. Especially being related to the starting QB. Maybe the Sabers are just hiding him, and I don’t wanna rat out sources. But let’s just say, he’s down here because that’s what someone told me to expect.Ā

35. Kenney Drennon ? - Are you on a team? Was a baller for Aztecs 2 years ago, completely fell off last year (36 total yards). Spent all off-season telling me how bad he wanted to join BT. But we’ve moved on, and I haven’t seen anyone else submit him. Too talented to not play. Griffins would be a solid fit! Do it!

36. Jake Tolman 🪽- Big, athletic. Guardians do everything guy. Last year he only had 3 catches for 27 yards. That was the worst offensive season in hos career, cuz he played mostly defense. I expect better this year.

37. Zion Perrault āœˆļø- Returning WR for Warhawks. 5 catches, 68 yards. Jameke and Cayden will get the lions share, and he will get whatever scraps are left for a 3rd WR on a team that doesn’t throw the ball. Prob a great guy, just not a great situation.Ā

38. Laurant Mkubaya šŸ‚- Again, never really got confirmation. At DB I said ā€œyou flirted with a bunch of teams, I heard you ended up on the Dorsā€ and all you said was that you should be ranked higher… ok… if you’re on the Dors, you’ll be their 10th WR… and I’m not exaggerating.

39. Emmitt Warren 🪽- Was pretty solid for Guardians a few years back. Sounds like he’s back from retirement. Good on ya, they could use the help!
